VL C I liked it and I didn't like it. I liked that it was actually filmed where the story took place - in Santa Fe. I like that it wasn't the same old white milktoast Hallmark/Lifetime cast and actually admitted a Christmas movie doesn't have to be in the NE or have snow. Now for what I didn't like. There was no real chemistry between the romantic leads. Tony had more chemistry with his sister and dad than he did with Belinda. On fluff holiday movies, you really need the chemistry or the movie is dull and flat IMO. The scenery was gorgeous, although it didn't really showcase the beauty of Santa Fe - most of what we saw was the same old overhead shot that made Santa Fe look like a small town (it's not). The lack of extras in the crowd scenes made the scenes flat and dull rather than energized as you would normally expect at a "Winter Festival". I lived in New Mexico for 10 years, visited Santa Fe many times, and no matter what time of year, the Plaza (where supposedly the store was located) was ALWAYS busy, always bustling and always energized. The movie barely touched on the magic that is Christmas in Santa Fe. The pie contest does exist (Holiday Pie Mania) but where were the farolitos (aka luminarias)? And why nothing about the dances at the pueblos? Lifetime had a great opportunity to really showcase the wonderful & colorful Hispanic history and culture of New Mexico and fell flat.
