Noel Murray Los Angeles Times Throughout, Loftus gives a gripping performance as a woman desperate to make a good impression on a family that may be evil. May 15, 2022 Full Review Leigh Monson AV Club 'Homebound' is nominally watchable–its short runtime certainly makes its predictability all the more forgivable–but it’s such a shallow experience that it’s instantly forgettable. Rated: D+ May 8, 2022 Full Review Anton Bitel Little White Lies Homebound is a domestic psychodrama, but buried somewhere in its texture is a tragedy or perhaps a crime whose precise outline remains an enigma. Apr 1, 2022 Full Review Jeremy Aspinall Radio Times The film is too enigmatic for its own good, undercooking the suspense and leaving us desiring a bit more meat on the bone. Rated: 2/5 Feb 20, 2024 Full Review Brandon Zachary CBR While Homebound features some solid acting and dreamlike direction, it's let down by a script that trades depth and development for briskness. Jun 1, 2022 Full Review Josh Goller Spectrum Culture Unfortunately, the ominous atmosphere built up in this ultra-slim 71-minute psychodrama’s earlier moments dissipates into predictability. Stuart R It just seems like horror films with this kind of a setup always seem to go in the same direction. 🍀 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review Karen R Good cinematography; well acted - cutting issues etc possibly to shorten to time... lots of 'why' moments not explained but still enjoyable enough... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review Gaynor F Imagine someone promising to tell you an exciting story and you sitting there with baited breath eagerly awaiting the tale- and then it stops abruptly at ‘Once upon a time…' That's exactly what Homebound did to me! All the right questions are asked through the convincing acting, the eerie setting of the shadowy old mansion, the expectant mood… Is the father evil? Or was the mother? What happened to the children's innocence? What's with the alcohol to the kids and the children slaying the duck? Where's their mother? Brilliant! And then it's like the writer of this movie script suddenly got called to dinner smack bang in the middle of it all - and quickly scribbled in: ‘The End!' Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/24 Full Review Kiya F This movie started off great, the actors were passionate and believable. The ending was dreadful, I expected more and was left with so many potholes and unanswered questions. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/25/23 Full Review Chester {Possible Spoilers} This movie exaggerates and plays upon the apprehension that a person has when meeting their boyfriend's/girlfriend's or husband's/wife's family for the first time. What will they be like? Will they accept me? From the beginning, I could tell that the new husband was a creepy 'James Cameron' type and the young wife was kind of wide-eyed and oblivious. These country English mansions are always a good setting for a thriller because they are so old and isolated- a person in trouble can't easily get help. I had an inkling as to what happened to the childrens's mother... Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/15/23 Full Review charleen s There r way too many movies out like this. Did they just forget to write the ending??Very annoying! 😡 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
