Four pals are stuck in a rut in adulthood: Adam (John Cusack) has just been dumped, Lou (Rob Corddry) is a hopeless party animal, Craig (Craig Robinson) is a henpecked husband, and Jacob (Clark Duke) does nothing but play video games in his basement. But they get a chance to brighten their future by changing their past after a night of heavy drinking in a ski-resort hot tub results in their waking up in 1986.

While it's not a film that screams "go out and see me immediately", I enjoyed watching it. To me, it's one of the real last modern funny films of this century, or really modern times (let's face it: modern comedies are dogshit.) with just enough humor and nostalgia to keep me coming back every once in a while. John Cusack was enjoyable, as was the main cast. plenty of memorable lines. above all else, SKIP THE SEQUEL. Seriously, don't even bother with it. talk about an F5 fire-tornado over a toxic sewage waste site. it's time and energy you'll never get back.

Hot Tub Time Machine is a quirky, laid-back film that's great for a casual movie night. It may not be the most sophisticated comedy, but it has its moments and is a passable way to spend an evening. Grading: C+

Synopsis
