I’m all for encouraging people to go see movies in theaters. In this case, though, if you need something to do with your kids this weekend, you can save a lot of money by staying home and watching the original How to Train Your Dragon together.

We were a little hesitant going in because our family is a big fan of the original animated film series but we ended up being pleasantly surprised. The live action film is able to stand on its own, while paying tribute and being respectful of the source material. The new actors make the roles their own and were looking forward to seeing where they take the next films. It doesnt replace the original film but sits along side it as something special in its own right. A fun afternoon at the movies with the family.
