Poised with sharklike self-assurance, Marla Grayson (Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike) is a professional, court-appointed guardian for dozens of elderly wards whose assets she seizes and cunningly bilks through dubious but legal means. It's a well-oiled racket that Marla and her business-partner and lover Fran (Eiza González) use with brutal efficiency on their latest "cherry," Jennifer Peterson (two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest) -- a wealthy retiree with no living heirs or family. But when their mark turns out to have an equally shady secret of her own and connections to a volatile gangster (Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage), Marla is forced to level up in a game only predators can play -- one that's neither fair, nor square.

A searing swipe at late-stage capitalism, I Care A Lot is an exhilarating pitch black comedy with a wicked performance from Rosamund Pike.

Audience Says

Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage do good work, but they're acting in a dark and ugly story that doesn't give the audience anyone to root for.

Christina Newland iNews.co.uk It is refreshingly pungent, and as the engine of a crime plot with some truly outrageous twists, Pike gives an outstandingly nasty performance worthy of major attention. Austin G A critic’s credibility would benefit by watching the absolute ending of this movie before drawing conclusions and writing a review. With that concept in mind, a grain of salt is in order for the low audience reviews. Some movies do not intend to influence the viewer. Some may movies do not intend to gain popularity. I believe this to be the case here. This film is very original and genre jumping. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/10/24 Full Review Christian C So many hurt feelings over this movie… It’s hilarious to see the fake outrage over this: “wOrST mOvIE eVER i wALKeD oUT!” Well, according to RT users, there are walkouts in every movie involving about a quarter of the audience. If you watch this and aren’t a complete moron, you’ll probably figure out the actual reasons this bothered so many people enough to motivate them to create multiple accounts and review a movie they supposedly didn’t like because “the writing was bad.” Lol. None of these people have ever written a birthday card greeting. But I’m sure it’s the “writing” that’s the issue. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review ruben m I created this account just so that I can say that this is the worst movie I have ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review Audience Member Creating this account just to comment that this is the worst mivie ive ever seen Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/08/24 Full Review Leo S A poorly written movie plot combined with a forceful attempt at making the audience root for a lesbian couple of exploiters, somehow capable of defending themselves against what is hinted at but never fully comproved russian mafia, proving, that the perfect recipe in the wrong hands will still hold bad results. With the only acceptable part of the movie being of course, the ending. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Charles T Honestly, if there was some way I could reach out and prevent someone from watching this movie I would. If I could slap the remote out of someone's hand just as they pressed play I would. I wish I could get the time I wasted of my life back. No. I feel owed more time. I'll never forget how angry I am that I ever saw this movie and it makes me realize that I can never trust a reviewer. Zero stars. Negative stars.
