Poised with sharklike self-assurance, Marla Grayson (Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike) is a professional, court-appointed guardian for dozens of elderly wards whose assets she seizes and cunningly bilks through dubious but legal means. It's a well-oiled racket that Marla and her business-partner and lover Fran (Eiza González) use with brutal efficiency on their latest "cherry," Jennifer Peterson (two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest) -- a wealthy retiree with no living heirs or family. But when their mark turns out to have an equally shady secret of her own and connections to a volatile gangster (Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage), Marla is forced to level up in a game only predators can play -- one that's neither fair, nor square.

A searing swipe at late-stage capitalism, I Care A Lot is an exhilarating pitch black comedy with a wicked performance from Rosamund Pike.

Audience Says

Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage do good work, but they're acting in a dark and ugly story that doesn't give the audience anyone to root for.

Christina Newland iNews.co.uk It is refreshingly pungent, and as the engine of a crime plot with some truly outrageous twists, Pike gives an outstandingly nasty performance worthy of major attention. ruben m I created this account just so that I can say that this is the worst movie I have ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Audience Member Creating this account just to comment that this is the worst mivie ive ever seen Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/27/24 Full Review Leo S A poorly written movie plot combined with a forceful attempt at making the audience root for a lesbian couple of exploiters, somehow capable of defending themselves against what is hinted at but never fully comproved russian mafia, proving, that the perfect recipe in the wrong hands will still hold bad results. With the only acceptable part of the movie being of course, the ending. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Charles T Honestly, if there was some way I could reach out and prevent someone from watching this movie I would. If I could slap the remote out of someone's hand just as they pressed play I would. I wish I could get the time I wasted of my life back. No. I feel owed more time. I'll never forget how angry I am that I ever saw this movie and it makes me realize that I can never trust a reviewer. Zero stars. Negative stars. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Pootger H This film defies explanation. In cinema, there are antihero stories, morality plays, character studies of bad people. These kinds of movies usually have a point, or a moral, or themes, something we can learn from the characters, or perhaps a statement of art from the writers or director. This movie has none of those qualities. The protagonist is not an antihero, as an antihero typically has some redeeming qualities or a redemption arc. There is no theme, except a ham fisted critique of unfettered capitalism and the psychopaths who thrive in it. It's not even a character study, as the characters and circumstances they're in are flat and frustratingly unrealistic. Whatever abstract message you could have extruded from this story -- maybe a statement of how women can be strong and overcome patriarchal brutality -- is undone by the ending. The protagonist simply succeeds through a combination of hubris and extreme dumb luck. The mobsters were apparently competent at some point, as they had made tens of millions of dollars and survived unscathed for decades. But at this particular moment they are reduced to drooling morons so the protagonist can conveniently stumble her way into bringing their entire operation to its knees. The actors played their parts well, it's the writers who didn't care at all. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/18/24 Full Review C S Literally the most upset I’ve ever been watching a movie. I have never left a review on anything in my life. Like many others I created this account to voice how bad this movie really was.
