I Do... Until I Don't misses opportunities for fresh observations, settling instead for a middle of the road romantic comedy lacking memorable characters or real emotional stakes.

Audience Member Brilliant movie! In love with Lake Bell's whole vision. This movie is so touching and sincere, and hilarious while still being rich with cynicism and dark comedy. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Naysayers are totally wrong, this is a great story with very solid characters and some endearing performances by Paul Reiser, Mary Steenburgen, Ed Helms, Amber Heard, Lake Bell, and more. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member The spiritual couple was so spot on and funny . 3.2/5 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/15/21 Full Review Audience Member I thoroughly enjoyed the bounty of real moments and dialogue that is subtly brilliant. It's realness is what made me laugh, rather than it being in-your-face-blatantly funny. The editing and acting was also on point for comedic and heart-warming effect. I will say though, the portrayal of hippies was off and rudimentary. Might be accurate for hipsters trying to live the hippie life, but not true-to-values hippie folk. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review bryan b I thought this was going to be a this is 40/modern family mash up. Instead it was a muddled mush of couples trying to get on, then screw over the documentary maker. Laughs are few and far between. Better spending your watch time on another movie. Richard Brody New Yorker Delivers a warmly satisfying resolution without showing how it gets there. Sep 4, 2017 Full Review Zachary Shevich Time Out Bell's film ends up stuck between being a standard audience-pleaser and something more subversive. For a movie about marriage, you wish it would commit one way or the other. Rated: 2/5 Sep 2, 2017 Full Review Matthew Lickona San Diego Reader Given the emphasis on sincerity and sweetness over argument and insight, maybe "defense" [of marriage] is the wrong word. Maybe it should be "affirmation." Rated: 2/5 Sep 1, 2017 Full Review Kip Mooney Fresh Fiction Never earns its laughs, lessons or length. Rated: C- Aug 10, 2021 Full Review David Bax Battleship Pretension ...refreshingly laidback... Dec 11, 2020 Full Review Steven Prokopy Third Coast Review As a place for insightful thoughts and feelings about the complexities of marriage, it comes up short. The film's bigger crime is that the dialogue doesn't resemble actual human speech. May 13, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
