In this fact-based film, Italian investigative reporter Ilaria Alpi (Giovanna Mezzogiorno) and camera operator Miran Hrovatin (Rade Sherbedgia) are in Somalia during the 1990s covering the nation's civil war and political unrest. However, Illaria is also pursuing another story: suspicions surrounding Italian "relief organizations" who have been giving large sums to Somalia, supposedly for humanitarian efforts. However, what these journalists uncover puts both of their lives at risk.
