Tim Cogshell Alt Film Guide In Stereo... is a funky New York-set romp... The film's writing is sharp, its performances are very good, and it has a boss-ass soundtrack. It ain't When Harry Met Sally..., but who gives a f%#k? Rated: 3/5 Jul 12, 2015 Full Review Cary Darling Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com Director/writer Mel Rodriguez III, making his feature-film debut, upends expectations with a surprisingly engrossing look at two people who stumble their way toward one another. Rated: 4/5 Jul 8, 2015 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com In real life, things matter to people. Who you fall in love with matters. Your career matters. Your friendships matter. In "In Stereo" nothing really matters. Rated: 0.5/4 Jul 3, 2015 Full Review Pat Padua Spectrum Culture In Stereo seems tailor-made for lovers of vinyl, New York and photography, but without believable characters or a good script, its intended audience will quickly find a better station to tune in. Rated: 1.5/5 Aug 28, 2018 Full Review Mae Abdulbaki Punch Drunk Critics Full of potential and very enjoyable in some places, but ultimately underwhelming. Rated: 2/5 Aug 14, 2018 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) Director Mel Rodriguez III provides slick visuals and an even slicker soundtrack, but it doesn't hide the fact that the conclusion of In Stereo is that it's really hard when two gorgeous women want you. Audience Member Critics need to get off their high horse and let the watch the film as a regular movie goer. This film was really relatable to almost everyone Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Freshman director Mel Rodriguez takes an alternative view on the relationship genre, pushing the boundaries and exploring the not-so-sweet version of our personalities. The editing and soundtrack expertly drive the film forward, pumping up a mood of hip coolness in the most deft manner. The actor's performances are flawless throughout. I can't help but think of Rodriguez as an actor's director, stepping back just enough to let the actors shine and pulling out great performances. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member A fantastic and refreshing first film from Mel Rodriguez. It is superbly acted. The filmic style is compelling and consistent. Can't wait to see what Rodriguez will do next. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked it. I really did. Call me crazy. But the whole story. And the photography is great! Not sure why the critics jumped on the hate wagon. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Happily ever after is only for fairy tales.. This film provides realistic insight into the challenging nature of romance and career in the era we exist today. Skilled performances from the actors bring the director/writer's clever story to life. Fantastic music and great shots of NYC are the icing on the cake. Everyone should check it out! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member The stylish un-romantic comedy to see with a fresh new leading man and NYC as a great co-star.
