Jerod S Tomei really isn't in this movie - and it's similar to the Taken series but without any of the suspense. It's paced and shot all wrong. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 10/11/23 Full Review Abby A YET ANOTHER MOVIE WHERE I WOULD ADVISE PEOPLE TO NOT TAKE THE LOW RATINGS SERIOUSLY Adib (the fabulous, charming Alexander siddig) is falsely accused of being a traitor and exiled. Decades later, after starting a family and new life in Canada his daughter goes missing after going on a trip and his other daughter tells him she went off to Syria to research about him! Without telling anyone. Already giving off "spoiled brat " vibes. Adib finds himself needing to go back to his home in Syria where he has lots of enemies and has to confront the awkwardness of asking for help from his first wife Fatima he left behind (played by Marisa tomei.) Subdued stoic first half.. Intense, immersive 2nd half with a bit of action and some violence. Enjoyable throughout personally and everything gets wrapped up well at the end. By that I mean no head scratching, No plot holes.. Also appreciate that there wasn't too much politicspeak and jargon because there's people like myself who don't know the last thing about Syrian culture or Syrian internal affairs.. I've really enjoyed with Alexander in it.. From Rubba Nada she's really good in my opinion. I liked Cairo Time too. I'm a Long term fan of Dr Bashir of DS9! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Slow, boring, lame. No suspense, just a lot of blanks stares and talk. Rotten. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review ashley h Inescapable is a disappointing film. It is about Adib Abdel Kareem who must confront what he left behind in Damascus when his daughter goes missing. Alexander Siddig and Joshua Jackson give horrible performances. The script is badly written. Ruba Nadda did a terrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review william s That inescapable feeling that I wish I did not watch this boring drone of a supposed thriller. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Marisa Tomei plays a great Arab woman. I liked the twist and turn of the plot and the topical relevance of Syria. A very entertaining thriller. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Alonso Duralde TheWrap The film tries to meld politically charged personal drama with the action-movie tropes you'd expect in a story set in the Middle East. (Chase through a crowded marketplace? Brawl at the hamam? Check!) Feb 22, 2013 Full Review Farran Smith Nehme New York Post The plot unfolds at a nice clip, but at no point does director Ruba Nadda evade expectations. Rated: 2/4 Feb 22, 2013 Full Review Betsy Sharkey Los Angeles Times One hopes "Inescapable" is only a momentary stumble for this promising filmmaker. Rated: 2/5 Feb 21, 2013 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com A joyless exercise in prevailing generality. Aug 7, 2019 Full Review Steve Erickson Gay City News "Inescapable" offers a respectful treatment of its Arab characters' struggles, set at a central position rare in North American cinema, but it waters itself down in its effort to make them palatable to a non-Arab audience. Feb 21, 2018 Full Review Brandon Judell CultureCatch Clearly meaning Inescapable as an act of love, Ms. Nada, a Canadian filmmaker with Syrian/Palestinian parents, has instead done a great disservice to her gene pool and our film-loving sensibilities. Irksome would be a more appropriate title. Mar 18, 2013 Full Review Read all reviews
