Despite an abundance of eyecandy, the film doesn't amount to much.

Nicholas W To be reviewed sooner than later Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/11/24 Full Review Ed R Incredibly cheesy and meant for the younger generation. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 10/19/24 Full Review Dale R Based off of the 1983 animated television series and starring Matthew Broderick as Inspector Gadget, this movie is a mixed bag. There are a few jokes that landed for me, but most of the comedy didn’t land and a few scenes got me to roll my eyes. I am a fan of the original cartoon series and this doesn’t really follow much of what that had going for it. The basic premise was that Gadget is an incompetent inspector, his dog Brain keeps him alive during investigations and his niece Penny actually solves each case, but makes it look like Gadget does. This movie doesn’t follow that basic premise, instead creating an origin story. The villain, Dr. Claw, never revealed his face in the cartoon, but here he has a prominent role and is played way too over the top by Rupert Everett. The CGI wasn’t that good and the sound effects were dumb. A young child might like this movie, but I can’t recommend it to anyone. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/07/24 Full Review Prabudhjeet A Not a bad movie but not that good. It's not an easy task to adapt but it has its moments. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/05/24 Full Review Audience Member No where as good as the original cartoon series and Matthew Broderick wasn't the right actor for the part of gadget but still some funny moments. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 09/22/24 Full Review Joshua B This movie is peak brainrot. It looks like the 99.9% of the budget was spent on cartoony, goofy special effects that make what was left of my brain cells fry, and literally no substance is found in this movie other than acting that I could stretch and sugar-coat and say was alright, but I don't feel like it.
