Sahar Dowlatshahi, an actor who can emote with just gaze and eyebrows, beautifully complements [writer-director Behnam Behzad's] nuanced approach. Go to Full Review

Inversion feels like a neo-realist movie. The settings appear tangible and authentic. The actors disappear into their characters. There is no soundtrack, just the noise of radios and ringtones. Go to Full Review

10/02/2016 Iran is not the only culture in which the care for an elderly, ailing parent tends to be left to the unmarried sister, whose chances for a career and for founding a family of her own diminish in the process. Inversion questions the assumptions that help married siblings justify the unequal distribution of the burden of care. It shows how people deceive themselves and others in justifying their self-serving behaviour. A compelling performance by a brilliant cast, whose portrayal is both sensitive and authentic.
