Audience Member Routine prison drama about a man wrongly imprisoned adjusting to prison life and then after being released having to face the life of an ex-con. It's full of cliches and doesn't offer anything new, but it is interesting to see a Shaw Brothers production set in modern times rather than a period kung-fu film. Still, although this film is set in modern times, it's a very familiar Shaw Brothers style tale of betrayal and revenge. As contemporary Hong Kong action pictures go, this is a far cry from "A Better Tomorrow." On a soundtrack note, I always enjoy identifying the copyrighted music stolen for use in kung-fu films and this film does a pretty good job repurposing Pino Donnagio samples from Brian De Palma's "Carrie."
