Bisquiteen T Dec 11 Biased here. Look at my history. What started as a quest to find "hidden gems" on Tubi turned into watching the worst of the worst. This is far from. The performances, the writing, the filmmaking exhibit a basic level of competence. Nobody's getting the Palme d'Or, but it's a good story told well with believable acting. I feel like it did the "whole story told online" better than Unfriended. (Okay, the *whole* movie isn't online, things like music that isn't diegetic. It wasn't so distracting that it was an issue.) The family drama is the thematic heart of the film and works well. There's gore, there's a cult, you've got a lot of popular horror elements at play, but the dissolution of the family is what makes this interesting. This film is well-paced, and I'm also glad that decent movies are being made without major studio backing and star power. It's also a whole allegory for alcoholism, which lands okay, but the story is fine without looking for a "deeper meaning" to like it. See more Read all reviews
