Bilge Ebiri Spirituality & Health Itzhak perhaps achieves the greatest poignancy when Perlman tries to get at the mysterious beauty of the music he loves and plays. Mar 17, 2020 Full Review Jordan Hoffman Times of Israel An inspiring and upbeat film. Jun 5, 2018 Full Review Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle It's charming rather than captivating, a fine sketch rather than a finished portrait. Rated: 2.5/5 May 25, 2018 Full Review Linda Cook Quad City Times (Davenport, IA) Like its subject, "Itzhak" is filled with the joy of music. Rated: 4/4 Oct 17, 2019 Full Review Amelie Lasker FF2 Media With glimpses into Itzhak's married life, Jewish heritage, and warm circle of friends, Itzhak is a charming portrait of a beloved musician. Rated: 4/5 Aug 26, 2018 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Poorly-edited, unfocused and meandering. Itzhak Perlman is a compelling, charismatic subject who's worthy of a much more insightful and better edited documentary. Rated: 4/10 May 31, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Very uplifting...he's an inspiration! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Most engaging doc on the larger-than-life personality and master violinist Itzhak Perlman. I know very little about classical music but I was spellbound whenever he played on screen. Can highly recommend this one. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Perfection! Such a generous heart and admirable man Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/18 Full Review Audience Member This was honestly one of the most profound docs I've ever seen. A religious experience through and through. From the subject matter (Perlman is the ultimate fiddle player in my book) to the was he (and his wonderful wife) was captured by the auteurs, director, DPs, sound... glorious team all around. I especially enjoyed the fact that there were no talking heads, the fallback for most docs of this nature. Wonderful to see the world through Perlman's rose-colored glasses. Puts so much in perspective. I could watch this film 100 times and learn something new each time. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member fantastic documentary. telling the inspirational story of the most talented and influential violinist of our times. highly recommended - especially for those of us who grew up playing or listening to classical music. breathless playing and great story telling by Chernick! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I watched this movie in the Landmark cinema in VIA 57 designed by BIG. i watched twice and the experience is enchanting and thrilling. when i saw martha argerich play and record the bach vilin sonata no 4 c minor with itzkat i am totally excited by their chemistry. last time when i am in american natural history museum in nyc. i suddenly wanted to look for the new album of itzhak and i found this album. i immediatly loved bwv 1017 fist time i listen to it. in this movie, martha adored itzhak saying that he enchanged her. itzhak praise martha that she plays the piano exactly like what he hope to listen when he play violin . two of them say that playing together is like dialogue. these day i more and more feel that it is hard to find a people that can have a dialogue. and when i find a person i can talk to, i feel very pleased when itzhak was young. he unexpectedly taught himself. interest and action combined together is the best teacher. i am deeply infected by opotuism of itzhak. he is funny and happy and love to talk joke from young to now. he is so encouraging and chrismtic i am always feel pitty that itzhak does not give serious violin performance any more. he like to do jewish folk songs now. this movie make up for this regret. i saw the film that itzhak plays bach partita. that is very moving. i feel that it worth it even just for this short part of him playing bach itzhak say his juilliard teacher deloy is different from his previous teacher. deloy emphacis that the art of artist comes from brain. she hire art teacher for itzhak to teach him painting and she bring him to museum to appreciate art. she always ask itzhak what is the concept he want to put into his music. i feel that i should also use this method to train myself Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
