With deep wells of talent, Itzhak Perlman was able to earn an Emmy for his outstanding work in television. He worked in television in his early acting career as well, including a part on "Evening at Pops" (PBS, 1969-2002). He appeared in a number of television specials, including "John Denver: Music and the Mountains" (1980-81), "The Kennedy Center Honors: A Celebration of the Performing Arts" (CBS, 1984-85) and "Liberty Weekend Preview" (ABC, 1985-86). He also appeared in "Liberty Weekend" (ABC, 1985-86). He also appeared in the TV special "Philharmonic Opening Night: Masur and Perlman" (PBS, 1993-94). Following that project, he appeared in the Roberta Guaspari-Tzavaras documentary "Small Wonders" (1996) and "Everyone Says I Love You" (1996). Perlman won an Outstanding Classical Program In the Performing Arts Primetime Emmy Award for "Perlman in Russia" in 1992 as well as an Outstanding Individual Achievement - Cultural Programming Primetime Emmy Award for "The Dvorak Concert From Prague -- A Celebration" in 1994. Perlman was nominated for an Outstanding Individual Achievement - Classical Music/Dance Programming Primetime Emmy Award for "Tchaikovsky 150th Birthday Gala From Leningrad" in 1991. In the nineties through the 2010s, Perlman lent his talents to projects like "Music of the Heart" (1999) starring Meryl Streep, "Fantasia 2000" (2000) and "Hero" (2004). His credits also expanded to "Memoirs of a Geisha" (2005) starring Zhang Ziyi and "Jascha Heifetz: God's Fiddler" (2011). Most recently, Perlman appeared on the Robert Mann documentary "Speak the Music: Robert Mann and the Mysteries of Chamber Music" (2014).
