Mike Petryni Arizona Republic Gilliam, who also wrote the screenplay with Charles Alverson, adds the absurd touches that make every moment a crazy surprise. Aug 18, 2021 Full Review Rene Jordan El Nuevo Herald (Miami) The predominant humor of this film is scatological as if the filthiness of bodily functions were inexhaustibly entertaining. [Full review in Spanish] Aug 16, 2023 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy The result is decidedly hit-and-miss. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 18, 2021 Full Review David Sterritt Christian Science Monitor Apart from some isolated funny one-liners, Jabberwocky accomplished nothing more than make me wish for a return engagement of the far more clever Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Aug 6, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com A prologue to the brilliance of what was to come from Terry Gilliam, Jabberwocky is at its best an exciting experiment from the auteur in tone and form. Rated: 2.5/5 Aug 27, 2020 Full Review Bernard Drew Gannett News Service The movie strains too hard, is far too long, and its irreverent formlessness, a virtue in previous Monty Python endeavors, here seems simply dull and tasteless. nick s It has its moments, but there isn't enough comedic gold to make this a classic. Palin is a great pathetic protagonist, just doesn't have enough to work with. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review David W Proto-Gilliam but shows early signs of the visionary directors style and humour. Palin is, as always, hugely likeable in the main role and theres plenty of cameos from great comedy actors to enjoy. It's not a classic work of comedic genius like Life of Brian or Monty Python and the Holy Grail but then frankly what is? Very enjoyable all the same. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 06/11/23 Full Review Mark B I'm a massive fan of Gilliam's work, but this was incredibly disappointing. There's really nothing that makes this worth watching. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 04/14/23 Full Review robert p How in the heck did this movie get made, it's so unfunny and boring, I guess that is what it was shooting for. I now here it's a Criterion collection (blah). Thus my rating of *1/2* star. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review colin m Not funny or realistic. Too much ham-acting and slapstick. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review lynn c I love Michael Palin, and was looking forward to seeing him in his starring role, but it's a shame that his talent was wasted on such a disappointing, dull, and unfunny movie.
