tom m Okay, but the drama between the present & future selves was a bit overblown. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice romcom with a lite sci-fi twist. The dialog and acting is especially enjoyable. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Chernick did a great job with the screen play and the acting was great all around. But the driving force of the film was Stern. We know of his comedic skills from City Slickers and Home Alone, and he doesn't disappoint here. Who cares if it's low budget, Canadian, or doesn't have much time travel to it. It was a solid effort start to stop. Thoroughly enjoyed. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Ugh, this is way more of a romance than a time travel movie. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member It’s nice to see a low budget time travel movie. Daniel Stern gives a good performance and is easily the best thing about the film. Beyond that this movie is very small and very low budget and very contained with only a few actors and just mumble and jumbo about time travel. Nothing is shown in little as discussed. It’s an all right film but it could’ve been better it’s a little slow moving and not very engaging. Back to the future it’s not. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/21 Full Review Audience Member Low budget and low expectations coming in, great movie, solidly acted and executed. Richard Roeper Chicago Sun-Times Daniel Stern gives a moving performance as a crabby old physicist jumping back decades to prevent his past mistakes. Rated: 3/4 May 1, 2020 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Amusing but off-key in some unhelpful ways, it's a dorky time-killer that doesn't suffer too much for its familiar vibe. Apr 30, 2020 Full Review Radheyan Simonpillai NOW Toronto This is a film that savours conversational awkwardness and amorous fumblings, and takes its time developing a sentimental payoff. Rated: 4/5 Apr 6, 2020 Full Review Serena Seghedoni Loud and Clear Reviews In James Vs His Future Self, a time travel-obsessed scientist receives a visit from his future self. Jeremy LaLonde's sci-fi comedy is entertaining, heartwarming and human. Rated: 3/5 Oct 22, 2023 Full Review Dallas King Flick Feast Clearly fans of the genre [the filmmakers] have done their research and due diligence. As treating it as science fiction rather than fantasy, [the time travel] seems plausible and logical... warm, funny and full of heart. Rated: 4/5 Nov 11, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse James Vs His Future Self takes a rom com premise and infuses it with just enough invention and charm to create a timeless romance.
