When Visu meets Madhumitha (Aishwarya Rai), they quickly fall in love and plan to marry. But the sweethearts hit a snag in their impending nuptials when Visu's father, Rajamani (Nasser), objects: Visu has a twin brother, Ramu, and the old man is set on both boys marrying twins. A solution is easily arrived at when Visu introduces his brother to his bride's twin sister -- who is actually Madhumitha in disguise. Mayhem ensues when Ramu unwittingly falls in love with his future sister-in-law.

Harish N "Jeans" (1998) is a film that dazzles with its visual grandeur and memorable soundtrack, but ultimately falls short in its storytelling. While the film boasts impressive special effects, catchy songs, and charming performances from Prashanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, its convoluted plot and uneven pacing prevent it from being a truly satisfying cinematic experience. A. R. Rahman's music is undoubtedly the highlight of the film, with its catchy melodies and vibrant orchestration adding a layer of magic to the narrative. The songs are beautifully picturized, showcasing stunning visuals and impressive choreography. However, the film's plot, involving twins and mistaken identities, feels convoluted and lacks originality. The humor often falls flat, and the emotional moments lack depth and resonance. The pacing is uneven, with some scenes dragging while others feel rushed. Prashanth delivers a commendable performance in his dual roles, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is radiant and charming, but her character lacks depth and agency. The film's visual effects, though groundbreaking for its time, haven't aged well and can feel distracting at times. The overall execution is uneven, with moments of brilliance overshadowed by a lackluster narrative and underdeveloped characters. Despite its shortcomings, "Jeans" is a watchable film, primarily due to its impressive visuals, catchy music, and charming performances. However, its convoluted plot and uneven pacing prevent it from being a truly memorable or satisfying cinematic experience.
