Steve Erickson Chicago Reader Lam shows that love of cinema need not lead us into a hall of mirrors. If only he could teach other filmmakers that secret. Yellowfur D Tony Leung Ka-fai is quite suitable to play the gangster brother. The film can also be funny and criminal, but I still think he is more suitable for serious dramas. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/10/23 Full Review Audience Member good HK gansta pic but the copy I washed was really in bad shape kept freezing and skipping, oh well. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Dated and awkward triad black comedy. Golden Chicken was funnier, and it's a far cry from Heat Team. The few action sequences are usually well directed, thanks to Lam. A lot of the humor is cultural, and it's incredibly dry. Still, there are laughs to be had and even though the script doesn't play to Lam's strengths, he does a decent job. So, even when the attempts at parody are bizarre and sad, at least, for the most part, it looks good. Too long and melodramatic. For die-hard triad, Lam, Leung and/or Ng fans. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member rare combination of Hong Kong gangster film and black comedy, nicely done Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Awful, awful Hong Kong movie remarkable for the fact that it's a fine example of everything I hate about Hong Kong cinema. Movie looks more like a 2.5h long MTV video, the problem being that the Chinese idea of hip, slick, cool Western style is just tat. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member no wonder this is the cult of HK! the camera was great Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
