What to Know

Critics Consensus

Arnold Schwarzenegger tries his best, but Jingle All the Way suffers from an uneven tone, shifting wildly from a would-be satire on materialism to an antic, slapstick yuk-fest.

Chris Stuckmann ChrisStuckmann.com That rare family-themed Christmas movie that isn't really aimed at kids. It's actually aimed at adults... It's a family Christmas movie that's completely honest about what family Christmases tend to be like! Rated: B+ Dec 21, 2020 Full Review Anne Billson Daily Telegraph (UK) The film is very loud, and festooned with the sort of comic violence far more disturbing than anything in an 18-rated movie. Nov 27, 2017 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Entertainment Weekly Rated: C+ Sep 7, 2011 Full Review Branyan Towe Loud and Clear Reviews At the end of the day, Jingle All the Way is a holiday classic that kids can take good lessons from, and adults will be able to at least laugh at a bit Rated: 3/5 Jul 29, 2024 Full Review Mikel Zorrilla Espinof Schwarzenegger's charisma helps somewhat. [Full review in Spanish] Jan 3, 2022 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...the movie benefits substantially from Schwarzenegger's go-for-broke turn as the progressively frantic central character... Shay W It's an intentionally goofy Christmas movie. Has the late, great, Phil Hartman, and Robert Conrad. I thought at the time it was a strange choice for Arnold, and the reviews when it came out were poor, but it kind of grows on you. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Rob A Very funny! Two dads (Schwartzenegger and Sinbad), desperate for their son's affection, practically come to blows time and again over a rare "Turboman" doll (think Cabbage Patch Kid or Tickle me Elmo). Meanwhile, sleezy neighbor Phil Hartman (RIP) shines; he's annoyingly perfect with a live reindeer on his front lawn and he keeps hitting on Arnold's wife. It's got a big ending and I've seen this one more than once :) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review K K Deserves way more love than it gets. Arnold is hilarious. Heart warming good time with a good message and funny to boot. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/21/24 Full Review Commin C I think this is better than what people give it credit for. Maybe I just think it's better than what it really is due to the fact that I was 9 years old when it came out and watched it many times during my childhood. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/20/24 Full Review Mark J Just so much of this is awful and that’s why I love it. Doesn’t take itself seriously and has serious flaws. Some of the comedy with Sinbad is brilliant and relatable. Wish they’d have researched the order of karate belts before writing that scene.
