Vachel Lindsay The New Republic The miraculous scenes are adequate in themselves. They hint at the dignity and propriety of this immense resource the films have given us. Jul 14, 2021 Full Review George W. Graves Motography Ere the year 1916 has sunk into the past, one more epochal achievement, marking the onward rush of the screen toward loftier planes of attainment, is to be recorded as falling within the space of this remarkable picture twelvemonth. Audience Member Joan the Woman is Cecil B. DeMille's first epic historical film and quite honestly it wasn't a good one either. While it is appreciated that Mr. DeMille tried his best with the historical accuracy and impressive visuals (especially the scene where Joan is being burned at stake) that deserve praise. However it didn't help when Joan the Woman had some the questionable writing by Jeanie MacPherson and slightly below average direction by DeMille himself that deserve the criticism. It felt like Cecil B. DeMille could of done a little bit better with Joan the Woman. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Our first taste of Demille. For it's time a great epic. Best Hollywood version. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member deMille's take on the joan of arc story Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Perhaps his most lavish spectacle to date, lots of men on horses, lots of armor, lots of sword fighting and men falling off of precipices. An English WWI soldier finds Joan of Arc's sword and had a vision of fighting the French in Joan's day. The prerequisite ham acting is fully intact. ¡Gran cinta! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a great epic production, from the early years of Hollywood's gold period. Based on The story of the valiant French martyr is Jean D?Arc. Spectacular battle scenes Joan the Woman stand's times test as an exceptional example of the epic film.
