Franky L A little slow starting, but a good Clint Eastwood tough cowboy film. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/06/24 Full Review KB B It's a good western with good action. I must admit I liked the Fistfull of Dollars trilogy a little better. I also always preferred Eastwood westerns to John Wayne's. It's definitely worth the watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/04/24 Full Review Liam D An underrated western starring Clint Eastwood (Pink Cadillac, Kelly's Heroes) with smooth direction by John Sturges (Ice Station Zebra, Marooned) and a great supporting cast lead by Robert Duvall (The Handmaid's Tale, The Detective) Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review TWMax65 I am normally a big fan of westerns, especially Clint Eastwood westerns. However I must say this film let me down. I liked some things like Clint Eastwood's presence and portrayal of badassery as always, the sniper shootout, and how the film was shot with the gorgeous scenery in the background (what I assumed was the Rocky Mountains). Other than that the plot was not interesting, the movie dragged too much (even though it wasn't that long), and the tension behind the bodyguard/henchman in the gang antagonizing Joe was cut short when he died way too suddenly with the trap door and it felt too abrupt and out of place. I wish they had a better final confrontation. Bland and insignificant! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/16/24 Full Review Michael W This spaghetti western was pretty good. Clint Eastwood, Robert Duvall, John Saxon, Stella Garcia, and the rest of the cast did a good job in this movie. The plot of the movie was dramatic and thrilling. It's about taking down the people that took away their land. If you haven't seen this movie yet, check it out sometime. It's worth watching. Don't listen to the bad reviews this movie got. Those people have terrible tastes in movies. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/30/24 Full Review T T The good news? It's Clint Eastwood and it's a western. The bad news is that it's a terrible movie. Just watch it once and take it off your to do list. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times All I can tell you about Clint Eastwood in Joe Kidd is that he plays a ruthless gunman of few words. This isn't exactly a surprise... The funny thing about Joe Kidd, though, is that we can't keep straight whose side he's on, or why. Rated: 2/4 Oct 23, 2004 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills ...a mediocrity... Dec 4, 2020 Full Review James Clay Fresh Fiction Scripted by Elmore Leonard, this breezy open-air Western finds a formidable punch against masculinity by questioning the need for power while being supremely entertaining and never straying from Eastwood's clinched-jaw aesthetic. Rated: B Nov 19, 2020 Full Review Matt Brunson Film Frenzy Colorfully played by character actors Don Stroud, James Wainwright, and Paul Koslo, the villainous sidekicks spark the proceedings and provide Eastwood's hero with interesting antagonists. Rated: 3/4 Oct 30, 2020 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com It's lesser Eastwood (and Leonard and Sturges), but it's impossible to squash the spirit of the work, which carries the film far enough to satisfy basic needs from the genre, making it a lark, but a convincing one. Rated: B Apr 20, 2014 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid It's still a prime example of a good, sturdy bread-and-butter Western. May 1, 2009 Full Review Read all reviews
