delysid d mickey rourke is my new favorite Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/17/21 Full Review Audience Member It was kind of a hazy movie but had its moments and some sense of purpose. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Star studded Film Noirish Goodness, simply delicious.Ironic how Mickey Rourke starts out disfigured & becomes handsome, & in real life he went from a lust worthy dream, to a disfigured has been. The man has talent, showcased here, now wasted Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/25/20 Full Review Audience Member Walter Hill, the director has brought us 48 Hours, Another 48 Hours and The Warriors. Now he brings us Johnny Handsome, which stars Mickey Rourke as John Sedley A.K.A Johnny Handsome. Now looking at it's poster I would have thought it was about a man who disguises himself as a charming handsome guy, but would bat an eye lid if you cross him. But that isn't the case at all. Johnny Sedley grew up as a crack baby. His mother was a heroine addict during her pregnancy with Johnny. And the side effects from the drugs has made him into a disfigured man that can only rely on his family's love for the way he looks, but from the looks of it, it looks like he doesn't have much family to confide in, as we see in the opening scene, he's probably an outcast to most of his friends and family. His close friend, Mike (Scott Wilson) are planning to rob a jewellery store with Donna (Elizabeth McGovern) and Rafe (Lance Henriksen). Let's just say Johnny isn't their favourite person, due to his appearance but they need him and that's what the movie is trying to tell us that the people who drag and put you down, will need you for what's important to them and Johnny knows that, but as we the audience he's afraid to stand up for himself. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Deformed small-time criminal gets a new face from plastic surgery while in prison and sets his sights on those who double-crossed him to send him to jail. Very good cast. Did not know this was a Walter Hill film, his output is always worthwhile. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times This is a movie in the true tradition of film noir -- which someone who didn't write a dictionary once described as a movie where an ordinary guy indulges the weak side of his character, and hell opens up beneath his feet. Rated: 3.5/4 Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Mitchell Beaupre Paste Magazine One can imagine the idea of starting over from scratch with a whole new identity while remaining true to your inner core is a concept that could resonate quite well with a filmmaker—especially one whose career has been as varied as Hill’s.
