Alex Edelman's "Just For Us" comedy special inspired me to watch this movie and I will never forgive him for that. But everyone should watch Alex's special anyway. It's brilliant, unlike this cringe-inducing fiasco.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat is definitely dated. This sweet, confection is firmly set in the 1970's. It is a fanciful, comic retelling of the Joseph story from the Bible. It was okay, but I feel the same way about JATC that I felt about West Side Story, the subject material does not mesh with the tone. The themes of forgiveness, atonement, jealousy and honor get muddled in this strange musical. The music was good.

I'm pretty sure this movie started my love of musicals and movies. I wore out my VHS copy b/c I would constantly watch this over and over again. I also have a soft spot for this adaptation as it got me through some hard times as a kid. With brilliant, upbeat music from Andrew Lloyd Webber and catchy lyrics by Tim Rice, Donny Osmond leads a superb ensemble in adapting this beloved Broadway show for the silver screen. This is the only version of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" you will ever need to watch!!!!

Love this musical, love Donny Osmond in the role. The only thing I wasn't a big fan of was the school play aspect. They could have made this into a real world musical.

Well, not everything clicked for me and it feeling more centred for kids meant it was harder for it to click with me, but the songs were charming, was somewhat accurate to the story (despite not really mentioning God in a story that Gods very much involved with) plus some fun scenes making a fun watch.
