      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Aggressively unambitious, Journey 2 might thrill tween viewers, but most others will find it too intense for young audiences and too cartoonishly dull for adults.

Ethan G Johnson looks bored, Hutcherson is trying his best, Hudgens has barely anything to work with, Guzmán has absolutely nothing to work with and Caine has no idea what he's doing in "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island", a lousy adventure film with no direction or understanding of what it's supposed to be. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/24/24 Full Review Spike G Meh it passed the time so true Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/06/24 Full Review Lucero D No puedo creer que odié más la actuación de Vanessa Hudgens que el CGI de esta película Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/27/24 Full Review BRENDEN J This movie had nice visuals/SFX. The Rock delivers the same Cappola performance which was just sad to see. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/13/24 Full Review Audience Member pretty exciting stuff! its great for the whole family to enjoy the visuals are vibrant, lush and outstanding and you gotta see it in 3D just for the spectacle involving giant lizards, giant birds, centipedes, spiders and bees theres some interesting family dynamics goin on here however brief it is Vanessa Hudgens is awesome as always and Josh Hutcherson gets to become his own the action sequences are shot phenomenonally, too I think the script could have been tightened a little more but the kids will certainly enjoy the mindless, CGI fest and adventure-esque feel and Luiz Guzman is hilarious as comic relief I think the ending was a bit of a downfall though cause its making me worry how they're gonna tackle the next story by Jules Verne who knows.... Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/12/24 Full Review Isaac S dumbest movie I've ever seen, CGI is terrible and the plot makes no sense... no point in watching Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Donald Clarke Irish Times It's all a bit silly. But Journey 2 does have the uncomplicated charm of those ancient mid-budget epics in which Doug McClure narrowly avoided being eaten by Pterodactyls. Rated: 3/5 Mar 19, 2012 Full Review Leonard Maltin indieWire The visual effects are as artificial as the genially preposterous story, but the movie is all in fun, and painless for grownups. Mar 1, 2012 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com There's very little Verne left in this adaptation, and the nebulous way they connect him to Jonathan Swift and Robert Louis Stevenson is tenuous to say the least. Rated: 2/4 Feb 12, 2012 Full Review Iván Kazi EscribiendoCine Journey 2: The Mysterious Island immediately recognizes its audience and, fully accepting its constraints, pleases them with its fabulous drive and its intrinsic linearity. [Full review in Spanish] Rated: 6/10 Jun 22, 2023 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review There’s nothing about this family-friendly movie that’s outrageously offensive, but there’s nothing about it that’s particularly interesting, well-executed, or inventively conceived either.
