Michael B Feb 3 Hallmarkish movie of a three-way affair that shares only obvious perils these situations present. Poor lighting, multiple studio set designs that look pulled together on a tight budget, and casting that provided zero connectivity between characters. Honestly, if it weren’t for the humor derived from how poorly this farce is portrayed, I would have left at 30 minutes in. Moore’s performance shows the big screen was just too big for her weak tea ability. Waterman comes off as a lost soul drowning in a shallow sea of rewritten lines. Danson, terrible. No redeeming value or watchability here. Let me just start by saying this - if the Hallmark Channel were around in the mid 1980s, this would have been playing 24/7. Death, deception, secrets, lies, affairs, earthquakes and aerobics - who could ask for anything more? Frankly, this is the cinematic equivalent of fast food, and it would be totally insufferable if it weren't for the caliber of the cast involved, particularly Christine Lahti, an actress who can practically do no wrong in my book. This will never be confused for high art, but it's definitely watchable in a Days-of-Our-Lives-Young-and-the_Restless kinda way. So in honor of my mom, I give this a slight recommendation. And once again, if you're a Hallmark movie fan, grab some popcorn and watch it on loop for at least 72 hours. Awkward dinner party was interesting but film drags on too long with Danson's death and subsequent baby. This one had no hope for blockbuster appeal and really didn't appeal to me either, despite credible production and cast.
