Ben Kenigsberg New York Times 08/21/2014
The documentary's biggest highlight is its climbing footage, much of it shot by Mr. Ohlson; the film gets in close, with snow on the lens, and captures the sound of piercing winds at high altitude. Go to Full Review
Ernest Hardy Village Voice 08/19/2014
Its considered use of ice and snow-covered vistas against the expanse of blue sky offers great beauty while capturing something of what pulls the adventurous to try to reach the world's second highest peak. Go to Full Review

While the education is considerable, the fact that the footage has been lingering for five years is a fairly good indicator of the urgency of the final product. Go to Full Review

01/10/2021 Really interesting documentary showing just how impenetrable K2 can be to even the most experienced of climbers. Some of the views and historical aspect add to the quality of the documentary. Very awe inspiring. See more 09/22/2020 An enjoyable doc done around the 100th year anniversary of the first summit of K2 in 2009. It covers some of K2's history, but suffers from a poor narration track, the climbers are fantastically dull and it sort of just hangs on until the credits. A running time of a little over 65 minutes speaks volumes too. If you're searching for some climbing/BASE documentaries, I suggest films like Touching The Void (4.5 stars), The Summit (4), McConkey (4), Free Solo (4.5), Meru (4), Valley Uprising (4) and Sunshine Superman (4). Also, do yourself a favor: NEVER watch Vertical Limit (1 star). See more 10/09/2016 Terrific documentary on the perils of attempting to summit K2, the world's second highest mountain, which has the notoriety of having the second highest fatality rate among 8000+m mountains. See more 06/22/2016 Brilliant documentary! See more 03/08/2016 Sensible people climb a dangerous mountain and live to tell the tale. See more 02/02/2016 Very cool. It shows very interesting facets facets of climbing expeditions. See more Read all reviews
