Ashley H Kid Blue is an okay film. It is about Texas train robber Kid Blue who goes straight. Dennis Hopper and Warren Oates give decent performances. The script is a little slow in places. James Frawley did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the humor. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Good cast of then unknowns who went on to be stars or well know character actors. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review delysid d i enjoyed the film which is an obscure one Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/17/20 Full Review Audience Member A very humble movie about an outlaw played by Dennis Hopper who gets a job and tries to play it straight, but the sheriff gives him a hard time. I really liked watching Hopper act in this one. It's simple, but sweet. One thing that stands out, he makes a friend at town but his wife turns out to be pretty crazy and causes some interesting drama. It's cute but scary at the same time because there are plenty of people who like to play mind games like that. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Bickford: ''I aint got no gun, I aint got no wife, all I've got is a bed and board, and a job. And I'm tryin' to be as good a citizen as I can.'' Sheriff: ''Well now, that's the kinda story I like to hear, tell me that every time I ask ya and I wont havta shoot ya.'' - Kid Blue is one interesting western film. We've got The Kid himself trying to fend for his own in town after leaving his outlandishly con-life as a train robber. But things are pretty difficult in town, hard work takes place, and trying to fit in - but let us just say he runs into a bit of variables... or say, some trouble with the ol townsfolk and it's just not so easy. Will The Kid fit in and live a normal life? Or will he lead back to his old ways? Well, this film is indefinitely a fun, entertaining flick. With some pretty cool characters, and decent performances. The story is quite interesting and it kept me entertained all the way through with its absurd and odd occurrences, but it's all good. Pretty funny at times as well. I basically enjoyed it, and it is all good fun. It's watchable, and it is definitely worth checking out if you have the chance! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Great cast in this counterculture western, featuring some genuinely great character work by Oates, Ben Johnson bastarding it up as a sheriff provocateur, and Peter Boyle as a pill-poppin' inventor evangelist. The anti-modern, rebel subtext is none too subtle - but fairly well executed, pacey fun. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Perry Stewart Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com Best yet of the current genre of off-beat Westerns, this whimsical examination of technology and conformity in Dime Box, Texas, 1902, showcases some of the finest acting and writing you’ll see this year. Jun 14, 2022 Full Review J. Hoberman Village Voice Kid Blue has a meandering jug band sensibility and a premise hilariously relevant to Hopper's situation. Aug 15, 2006 Full Review Vincent Canby New York Times Kid Blue is a well-meaning, liberal, anti-fascist Western, dressed up with some good performances by Peter Boyle, Lee Purcell and Janice Rule. But it's not a very good movie. Rated: 2/5 May 9, 2005 Full Review John Hofsess Maclean's Magazine Kid Blue is the kind of film you’ve seen even if you haven’t seen it. It’s not even a particularly brisk stirring of familiar movie making ingredients.
