Huge fan of the movie Kids in Love, fantastic cast followed by very entertaining and appropriate summary of a "lost" generation bought up in the South of England, ive always seen mixed reviews scattered around the internet about this film but i truly do not see why, all the way from directing, screenplay to locations everything was great, 10/10 overall, one of my favorite movies!

This is quite realistic as a coming-of-age story, but don't go in expecting a romance. So be aware of that. Also, this review will be spoiler-central. :) You've been warned.
This film kind of felt like a pretext to have supermodels dancing to music montages and looking hot all the time. That was quite evident from the very beginning.
Jack, played by Will Poulter, has a more healthy relationship with Cass, Viola, Cara Delevingne's character, and her friend, than he does with his main love interest. Upon showing up at a club to find her taken by some other guy, he instead decides to stick around and get to know her group of friends. They, with their "bohemian" lifestyle, are a welcome stress-relief for Jack from his strained life and high expectations from his father to become a lawyer. For someone who 'would like to take a gap life', the bohemian lifestyle is probably what really seduces him. It's a cocktail of good and bad. His love interest is in a toxic relationship and also digs her toxic little nails into Jack's back, the nice guy who everyone likes.
It feels a tad (a lot) undercooked. Despite exploring a new passion for photography, and being enabled by his new friends, and the generous gift of Cass's camera, he never explicitly tells off his parents about not attending Law School, that he'd rather take Photography. He just forgets about the internship he had lined up, and tells his parents and his friend Tom (who expects him to take a trip to South America with him) he doesn't feel like doing either of those things before running away for a short period of time. He is only shown mailing some photos to a magazine at the end and apologizing to his best friend Tom at the end via voice mail.
In terms of casting, Will Poulter is really the only fully-fledged actor in the cast. Cara Delevingne, based on her later filmography, has the best acting skill to second his, and would've been better fit if she had been in the lead role of Evelyn. It would've been a much better film, too. In terms of both chemistry and acting skill it would have enriched it so much more. The rest of the cast, pardon my French, is full of featureless "perfect" models who fall very flat.
So the main error lies in the casting and the undercooking. But otherwise, it's a solid coming of age story.

The ambition is here and 50 percent of the casting works, it's the undercooked script that stops this from taking off. I hate the cliche pitfall of the boyfriend being a great guy on the surface but is a horrible person underneath. Can't they just make the main guy a bit of the villain because he is trying to jump on the guys girlfriend? Makes sense to me, still going to be a lot of conflict.

Well, there's always a first time for everything.
Coming-of-age romance-drama from Britain. Low budget film that was shot a couple of years ago, but saw a delayed release. Everybody knows Will Poulter from 'Narnia' and apart from that he had done a good number of big films, but most of them are side roles. This is his film, the story was told from his character.
The story of a teen boy who always been a good boy, but now after meeting a girl on the street, decides to explore the life on the crazy side. It was the affection on her that changed his path. His expectation was to make her fall in love with him back, but it was a complicated environment. What are all his options, and his attempts that leads to the story's end.
Totally refreshing cast. It was Will Poulter's film, but if you see the film poster it was Cara Delevingne in the front with a big pose who has only a small part in the story. But the reason was, her face, the most marketable among others in the film. The film was not that good, though a decent one.
The story perspective and purpose was good, but a little slow, even for a shorter than 90 minute film. The French actress, Alma was good. I liked some of the film scenes, not the overall film. But a nice effort, only if it was set in Brasil, particularly that carnival scene, it would have been a very cheerful flick.

Enjoyable, but the subcultural group portrayed seems a little detached from the reality of London life.
