Mike S When it was broadcast this series was "edgy" and unnerving, although a modern audience may see things differently. The lines between reality and on-line life become blurred, as a young man becomes exposed to darker areas of the internet, stalking a victim is initially a game until a real murder occurs. The police characters are almost caricatures, but the fact that they are woefully unprepared to deal with crime which involves the internet still rings true today. Yes, a modern viewer may scoff at the (now) dated technology and the naive attitudes of characters towards cyber safety but just remember this series is over 25 years old and watch it anyway. I definitely recommend it Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/26/24 Full Review Mahir S I liked the series. It is ahead of time hi anticipate the negative impact of social media in our lives. The actors were excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/19/24 Full Review Audience Member A disappointing thriller from Lynda La Plante. Released in 1998, this has some very good ideas and is particularly prescient about the dangers of social media. Unfortunately however, I found the tone of the piece to be too light. The admittedly lo-tech (by today's standards) stalking software is agreeably creepy, but too much of the show is played for laughs and the amiably gormless Brighton police force wouldn't be out of place in a 1920s detective story. A young Paul Bettany shows star quality, though of the rest of the cast only Kathy Brolly as Charlie, the enigmatic murder victim, is in the same league; the male lead, Tam Williams, was apparently too insipid to even warrant a credit on the packaging of the DVD copy I watched. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Lynda La Plante?s Drama made quite an impact on me when it was screened on TV many years ago. Certainly one of the first stories to be about a killer on the internet and this one really shows it from the perspective of the killer. Long in length, as the original screening ran over several episodes. The computer work looks a little dated now of course, but this was really cutting edge stuff at the time. It was also an introduction to our screens of Paul Bettany, who really stood out amongst the other Actors. The acting on average, is not perfect, but the storyline is certainly worth a watch.
