Audience Member Kōchiyama Sōshun, also known in English as Priest of Darkness, is a 1936 Japanese jidaigeki film directed by Sadao Yamanaka. It is one of three surviving films by the director. Vision wrote "the first attempt at a Japanese gambling film. A first attempt at a Samurai duel. The background scenery in some of the scenes is breathtaking. Warming. Don't forget the sweet sake. Sister looks after brother. Brother mirrors. The siblings showcase Romeo + Juliet personalities. Setsuko Hara is an unknown to be known. The ending tempo for the hunt of the fox in the forest was magnificent. Magnificently choreographed and directed. Four fries!" Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/09/25 Full Review Read all reviews
