Leslie Felperin Variety Overwrought and overlong, but still chockfull of arresting imagery. Feb 29, 2016 Full Review Peter Brunette The Hollywood Reporter Kosmos is nothing less than cosmic in scope, and it's beautifully shot, and profoundly imaginative, but it's finally just too much of a good thing. Feb 29, 2016 Full Review Trevor Johnston Sight & Sound It's a strikingly imaginative effort, a haunting and poetic film from a major talent who's been gathering admirers on the international circuit since his breakthrough film Times and Winds (Bes vakit) back in 2006. Jun 26, 2012 Full Review Vladan Petkovic Cineuropa In building an enchanting, darkly bizarre and simultaneously optimistic atmosphere around his character, [Reha] Erdem positions himself as the most authentic auteurs of modern Turkish cinema. Aug 11, 2020 Full Review Emine Yildirim Today's Zaman (Turkey) The film requires much patience and attention in order to grasp the full nature of this colossal production, yet it is a must-see for anyone who is ready to embark on a soul-seeking visual journey. Feb 29, 2016 Full Review Patrick Gamble CineVue If you enjoy films that push past the boundaries of conventional cinema, then Kosmos is a fascinating Smrgsbord board of convoluted themes and ideas exhibited through some of the most profoundly beautiful visuals you'll see all year. Audience Member Probably a work of genius, certainly a work of art, but sometimes you just don't get these things, and two hours of quasi religious mumbo jumbo in a minor key is a LONG time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Neither there is a substantial character, nor a substantial acting. Irrelevant interfering scenes of animals, Distant type recording is, I think, a shortcoming to catch mimics which could help the reality.Just a good scenery of Kars which is the north-eastern province of Turkey. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Grandiosidade sonora e de imagens. Criativo e mal-criado. Nota 9, pelo audio-visual; nota 3 pela pretensão. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Rare film with remarkable filmic exercise. The sheer oddness and dramatic scenery are fantastic. Kosmos laments the lack of faith that afflicts our modern world and the contemporary human, the lack of faith in existence, nature, humankind, the interconnectedness of the world. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Watching Reha Erdem's Kosmos alone in a cinema was a strange experience. It was a matinee and absolutely no-one else was there (apart from what we use to call an usherette). It certainly enhanced the atmosphere of menacing unreality which permeated the movie. Iâ(TM)ve rarely seen a movie that is more visually impressive than Kosmos. Set in a snowy unnamed city (actually Kars in NE Turkey, pop 76,000) it tells of the arrival of a mysterious stranger who might be a miracle worker or might be a thief and who is certainly other-worldly. Perhaps a tad overlong and perhaps a bit confused at times, even irritating, it is non-the-less bloody impressive. Casting the unknown Sermet YeÅil in the lead role was inspired. He is all black hair and gleaming teeth and wild eyes. Iâ(TM)m not yet entirely sure what I think of it, image over meaning perhaps? Or is it something that will grow, or do I mean that we will grow into? But it is just so worth seeing. I think it will be worth seeing again. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Incredible! The kind of film you can't quite describe to your friend or put in a genre category. A real cinematic masterpiece. Go watch it :) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Read all reviews
