Olivia Popp Asian Movie Pulse Nakajima carefully explores what happens when a loss is too strong, too severe, and too lasting — and the lengths to which the mind, heart, and soul will go to try and remedy it. May 21, 2023 Full Review Dustin Chang ScreenAnarchy Kanji Nakajima's meta-physical Japanese sci-fi illustrates the moral implications of human cloning in a very direct yet elegant manner. Audience Member The Clone Returns Home is the type of foreign film you must get into vibe of to be able to appreciate. This is a quiet, existential film, a meditation on soul, self, and family. It is very pensive and a bit mysterious; it feels like reading a book and watching a nature show at the same time. The Clone Returns Home is definitely the type of film you have to be in the mood for, and if you are then it is a nice watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The filmmaker crafts an atmospheric tale of ambiguity where madness mixes with the mundane. The film manages to be eerie and tense at moments, lighthearted at others, and still confusing at other moments producing a beautiful piece of artwork. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I liked this film alot, got a little lost in the middle... definitely heartfelt... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member How has this not been released yet in the US? Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Meditative sci-fi gem, a hauntingly emotional human study. Reminiscent of Tarkovsky.
