Audience Member Pretty decent effort at the (let me get this right) 'Poliziotteschi' genre, which showcases the athleticism and charisma of leading man Fabio Testi and director Enzo G. Castellari's much-imitated ability to do more with less in the realms of the action thriller. And it has a soundtrack by the quite inimitable Goblin, which is always something to be celebrated, even if it isn't their greatest work. Fabio Testi plays the undercover 'Inspector Fabio' (yes!) who becomes embroiled in a supremely ridiculous and extremely convoluted international drugs plot with Interpol Agent Mike Hamilton (David Hemmings, continuing the longstanding Italian connection he began with Antonioni and then Argento) which leads to the inevitable bloody showdown. It's a little slow to get going, and features some dubious period gratuity (copious drug-taking close-ups and a rather dodgy lesbian scene) but it's definitely worth a watch for Castellari's patently cheap yet always watchable action scenes. Hemmings is good value as his grumpy, blustery Fed - and even gets to engage in some fisticuffs in his quest for justice - yet his fill of screen time is sadly on the slender side. Testi is ace throughout; running and gunning and motorcycling for all he's worth and really putting in a shift. He was a licensed pilot too, and performed most of the impressive aerial stunts himself. In my favourite action 'bit', our hero performs Scott Reininger's patented 'arse slide down the middle of the double escalator' manouevre (and a whole year before 'Dawn of the Dead'!) before popping a cap in the belly of some drug-dealing cretin who is standing stage-left. Stuff of legend, for sure. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Fabio Testi spends the entire movie in one of the silliest undercover cop get ups ever seriously committed to film - a hip length women's jean jacket which is cinched at the waist by a bright red belt, ripped jeans and proto-UGGS. Aside from the NASA ballcap, the thing that really seals the deal is the fact that someone, maybe his character, wrote MATT in whiteout across the shoulders of the jean jacket. Why? His name in the flick is Fabio. So why MATT. The story is really hilarious. And the drug underworld is laughable. Especially the nudie film set where some junkies get it on for junk. How in the world does this movie end with a small propeller plane chase? It does. But by then, I was done. This guy really don't know how to make a dull movie. Goblin's tunes rule and Fabio Testi kills and kills again. It is not a High Crime nor The Big Racket, but check it out anyway. For the fans of police brutality. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Okay... chances are if you're reading this review, then you'll enjoy this film. You really have to be searching the obscure to get here. Check out the trailer for the film first... This is great campy fun. It's grindhouse gold. I thought Hemmings would be more of the lead character than Testi, but now that I've seen it, I'm looking at other Testi movies to check out. If you've already come this far, give it a shot.
