Kevin Maher Times (UK) Leaving aside the dubious notion of boosting your self-worth by taking your clothes off in front of strangers, the film just isn't very funny -- or romantic. Rated: 2/5 Nov 3, 2017 Full Review Alejandro Alemán El Universal Ladies results in an interesting piece about women who forgive each other, who love each other again, who do not let themselves die from illness but also from sadness. Audience Member Adroitly crafted and beautifully shot with gorgeous colours. Sometimes you can feel the script is about to descend into the coy, only for a new tack to be taken that disrupts your assumptions and draws you on willingly. Contrary to what one reviewer says, it IS a romantic film though nothing romantic is easily won here - indeed it is resisted in a myriad number of ways. All the actors are well chosen and convincing in their roles with Florence Foresti in the lead being especially engaging communicating effectively a range of emotions with her expressive mannerisms. Anne-Gaëlle Daval, as director, has produced a delightful work and left me longing for her to direct many more films. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Read all reviews
