Audience Member Very short "by the numbers" thriller. But worth seeing Hugh Beaumont (TV's Ward Cleaver) in a very different light. Anyone familiar with the very popular sixties Leave it To Beaver will remember the dad, Hugh Beaumont. Just terrific at only an hour of your time! But the title baffles me and you can try to explain it to me anytime. Who confesses? Nobody confessed to any crime in this one. I was held in the grip of this film from the start. That's more than I can say for so many of these noir film classics. Most are so patheticly melodramatic or even foolishly written. Not this one. He is just the same as the TV series... mild mannered, confident and wise. Don't get mislead by the opening scene where Hugh is drunk as a skunk. He comes to his senses and resumes his professional grade appearance.
