This is a workmanlike iteration somewhat ploddingly true to its genre, from the style of lighting used for the interviews, to the sweeping, keening strings-led soundtrack, to the almost shocking moments of humour and honesty.

This is very much a documentary film rather than a dramatised version of events, with many people recounting their memories of the terrifying events that took place. Obviously there is a reenactment but its more a talking head piece than anything else. However, the story is certainly intriguing and its good that we, as the viewer, get a decent idea of what the other colleagues are like. Its a bit frustrating that by the end of the film, we don't know all the details about how things worked out as they did but its pretty watchable and interesting while its playing regardless and if your interested in diving and the like, then you should definitely give this a watch. I do feel like there was maybe more to the story that we're not shown but I suppose not enough is known right now, science wise, to be able to explain what we don't have explained. As documentary films go, this is a perfectly decent one - I wouldn't call it a gripping watch per se but its certainly pretty watchable and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in the story, yes.

I was worried that this film might be.. suffocating. But no, it the exact right balance of drama, reality and action. Never a dull moment, and such a human story. The characters are really unique, including the emotionless one (can't remember his name) who admitted that he didn't worry too much when he realised.. (stopping here, no spoilers)

Last Breath is a powerful documentary that will leave you on the edge of your seat. A race against time scenario keeps you guessing throughout. A down to Earth bunch who you wholly get behind. Breathe this one in.
