SkyRo P "Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood" marks the next chapter in the Leprechaun franchise, once again featuring the talented Warwick Davis in the titular role. However, this installment seems to miss the mark in several ways. Warwick Davis remains an exceptional actor, and while his portrayal of Willow was unforgettable, the follow-up to that beloved film may not have been necessary. The original “Leprechaun” films had their moments of fun; the first two were entertaining, while the third caused some confusion. The fourth was so bad it was almost enjoyable, and the fifth descended into chaos, setting the stage for a return to the hood. It’s certainly a bizarre sight to see the Leprechaun indulging in pot and engaging with street characters, which raises questions about the direction of the villain. Yet, upon reflection, one must remember that the Leprechaun was never intended to be just a straightforward killer. His motivations stem from the theft of his gold, and his character often blends horror with humor. This duality is reminiscent of other iconic horror figures like Art the Clown from the "Terrifier" series and Pennywise from Stephen King’s "It." Even Freddy Krueger brings a certain wit to his terror. In contrast, characters like Michael Myers and Jason Voorhees remain more serious in their approach. Despite its flaws, "Back 2 tha Hood" carries the same lighthearted charm that has characterized the Leprechaun series. The blend of humor and horror is what makes these films entertaining, even if the writing leaves something to be desired. While it may not be the best entry in the franchise, it’s still a fun watch. I recommend giving it a chance—while it might not become a favorite, its cheesy antics are sure to provide some laughs. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/24/25 Full Review Edward F Terrible movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/30/21 Full Review andrew k Just barely better than the previous one. Writing isn't quite as bad. Unfortunately, still not a good movie though. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member They never should have gone back 2 the hood. The first time was barely sufferable, but this second offering had nothing to offer but poor acting and weak one-liners. 4.5/10 Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/14/23 Full Review Read all reviews
