Khaliel P This fourth installment was shaken by the pandemic: filming was halted in March 2020, the script rewritten due to the lack of extras, and the release repeatedly postponed. Originally scheduled for December 2020, it finally arrived a year later, in December 2021, after long negotiations to preserve its Christmas setting. The question remains whether this isn’t one sequel too many. The fatigue is undeniable, even if dropping the eternal clash between rich and poor in favor of a story rooted in the middle class brings a breath of fresh air. But the characters haven’t evolved: Wilfried is still a big naïf, made irresistible by Pierre Lottin’s comic energy, yet his homosexuality is completely brushed aside. As for Donald, he finally vanishes from the screen. Caught between a clumsy critique of consumer society and a light Christmas tale, Les Tuche 4 still manages to amuse at times, but mostly highlights the franchise’s fatigue.
