Isabelle Nanty

French actress Isabelle Nanty is best known for her comedic roles in films such as "Tatie Danielle" and the Jean-Pierre Jeunet fantasy "Amélie." She got her start in the 1980s with her first significant role coming in the 1986 TV movie "Un moment d'inattention." She had a small dramatic part in Bertrand Tavernier's "Beatrice" in '87 and a breakout role in the 1990 film "Tatie Danielle." Her role in the dark comedy about an elderly aunt who moves in with her beleaguered family earned her a Most Promising Actress César. She had a supporting role in the hit comedy "Les Visiteurs" in '93, and in 2001 was part of the international smash hit "Amélie" in the role of Georgette. The part won her another César nomination, which she followed up two years later with her third for the musical comedy "Not on the Lips," featuring "Amélie" star Audrey Tautou. Nanty also appeared on the soundtrack, singing the film's title song. She wrote, directed, and starred in the 2003 comedy "Le Bison (et sa voisine Dorine)," and co-wrote the 2006 fantasy-comedy "Essaye-moi."
