Panos Kotzathanasis easternKicks.com Ley Lines has its faults, but features great cinematography and many of the elements that made Miike who he is now, and thus, definitely deserves a look. Jul 26, 2020 Full Review Christopher Null Filmcritic.com better and more engaging than some of Miike's most convoluted and incomprehensible yakuza epics Rated: 3.5/5 Jun 20, 2005 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...perfectly exemplifies Miike's inability to effectively pace his films. Audience Member Miike's Black Society Trilogy concludes with a look at racism within the Asian cultures, as three immigrants find life in Tokyo to not be the answer to all their problems that they expected it to be, spiraling into increasing cangers as they try to desperately keep their heads above water. Worth a rental. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member Encore un film assez réaliste de Miike. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Decent Miike thriller. Niente male... Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member The 3rd and final part of Takashi Miike's Black Society trilogy. It revolves around a group of outsiders trying to survive in the seedier part of Shinjuku (Kabukicho) and just when they think they've got one over the criminals they find themselves being outclassed. The movie has a very nostalgic atmosphere and since it revolves around the yakuza world, there are a couple of "Miike-highlights" in this one, however without compromising the atmosphere or tone of the movie. If you're familiar with Miike's work beyond the more widely seen trio of Dead or Alive, Audition and Ichi the Killer, then Ley Lines is a definite one to watch. With this movie, Miike creates a bold and incredibly interesting work that manages to skilfully juggle between moments of brutality and tranquillity, character and action, comedy and drama; while carefully blending them together into a cohesive and ultimately incredibly moving tale. Recommended. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member The 3rd and final part of Takashi Miike's Black Society trilogy.
