Critics Consensus

Like Father unites an alarmingly talented cast for a predictable rom-com that does nothing to counter the negative stereotypes surrounding the genre.

Oliver Jones Observer Bell and Grammer's characters are so fuzzily rendered that they create no sparks when they butt heads in close quarters. Rated: 1/4 Aug 29, 2018 Full Review Christy Lemire What the Flick?! There is an element with early onset Alzheimer's, that in the film feels very wedged in like as the emotional underpinning that they are going for which explains certain people's actions. Rated: 4/10 Aug 10, 2018 Full Review Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic Clearly, given its algorithmic knowledge, Netflix knows things we don't... It doesn't quite explain why a film so willing to check all the comedy-cliché boxes would commit to humor least of all, particularly given how well standard fare can do. Aug 7, 2018 Full Review Aaron Charles InSession Film Though it takes some leaps of varying sizes, some of which we may not be inclined to fully believe, Like Father is an enjoyable film that brings genuine laughs... Rated: B- May 9, 2024 Full Review Pablo O. Scholz Clarín Neither karaoke with Come Sail Away... nor the appearance of Seth Rogen, keep [Like Father] from sinking. [Full review in Spanish] Sep 3, 2019 Full Review Louisa Moore Screen Zealots A huge misstep for co-writer and director Lauren Miller Rogen, who probably made this lazy vanity project so the cast and crew could get a free Caribbean vacation. Vale apena assistir? Sim, se não tiver outra opção. Nota: 5,5 Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/25 Full Review Max G A star for each Rogan, and that’s about it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/03/25 Full Review Penny W It's the perfect feel-good drama comedy. I got a lot of dopamine from movie. Outstanding cast with a really mellow and easy and fun script. Loved it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/25 Full Review Drew B It lighthearted, goes by fast, a likeable cast. I like the cruiseboat as a setting. Satisfying moments throughout. Nice little cast. Its just a nice, easy to watch movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/25 Full Review Kristen P I watched this with my dad and we really enjoyed watching it ! It's feel good movie and if you been on a cruise you'll enjoy this movie even more. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/24/24 Full Review Snuggly Apparently, having a business call gets your wedding cancelled. An insult to viewers intelligence. I was done after 8 minutes. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/04/24 Full Review Read all reviews
