Pauline Kael New Yorker Lions Love has a graceful surface, but it lacks a sense of the fitness of things -- and I don’t mean empty proprieties but true sensibility. Feb 5, 2024 Full Review Richard Brody New Yorker More than a time capsule of events and moods-it's a living aesthetic model for revolutionary times. May 29, 2017 Full Review Variety Staff Variety The result is a pleasant, sometimes humorous blend of style and technique that ultimately is unsuccessful. Jul 7, 2010 Full Review Paul Schrader Coast FM & Fine Arts In Lion's Love Agnes Varda goes from the intellectual coldness of the French school to the dull, cold films of Warhol. Jun 30, 2020 Full Review Richard Whitehall Los Angeles Free Press The interrelation of themes, the weaving back and forth between acting and actuality, is fascinating. And that strong sense of the ambience of Los Angeles. Jan 17, 2020 Full Review Lewis Teague Los Angeles Free Press Although conceptually interesting, it ultimately disappoints by failing to deal with the things it purports to be about, such as what it's like to be an actor in Hollywood today. Audience Member Es una película muy bella, y disfruté mucho que deja ver el proceso entre partes. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Varda seems to be trying to make an improvisational meta-Warhol experiment or perhaps a hippie homage to Hollywood (who knows?), but the result, despite mildly pleasant, is in fact a bit pretentious, and the main trio become pretty annoying and dull after a while. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member At first I did not like this movie. The 3 stars were saying things that were supposed to be meaningful and symbolic but which I wasn't getting and only saw as frivolous nonsense until I realized it was frivolous nonsense. They represent what freedom brings to the bourgeoisie: senseless nonsense. Juxtaposed against the assassination of Bobby Kennedy this film is brilliant.
