Critics Consensus

Gripping, well-acted, funny, and clever, Edge of Tomorrow offers entertaining proof that Tom Cruise is still more than capable of shouldering the weight of a blockbuster action thriller.

Jake Cole Slant Magazine Doug Liman’s sci-fi action thriller remains one of the most enjoyable American blockbusters of the previous decade. Jul 8, 2022 Full Review Sara Michelle Fetters MovieFreak.com Edge of Tomorrow is a rousing adventure filled with pulse-pounding thrills and surprising dashes of character-driven humor, the film a breathless two hours of fun worth celebrating. Rated: 3/4 Jul 5, 2022 Full Review Dylan Green Shadow and Act [Edge of Tomorrow] may not be as smart as it could've been in the broad strokes, but a clever, well-acted thrill ride like this doesn't really need to have its head fully in the game, now does it? Aug 15, 2017 Full Review JD Duran InSession Film Edge of Tomorrow is one of Tom Cruise’s best films of late. The framework and structure is unique and well handled for the most part and is still exciting, even though the final act isn’t quite on the same level. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Audience Member This is an amazing film that broke down some of my Tom Cruise hate. It is one of the worst film endings I have ever watched. I also feel that the hive mind alien species premise is over used and glorifies the concept of violence again sentient extraterrestrial species. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review Kevin R Sequel needed. Ending is unclear. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review W. Scott S Edge of Tomorrow and Top Gun: Maverick are probably tied as my two favorite Tom Cruise movies. And they're both possibly in my top 10, or at worst, in my top 20 movies of all-time. Edge of Tomorrow was an unexpected absolute delight of a movie to watch. The images, the story, the progression, the imagination of the sci-fi elements, just seemed perfect. I loved it and have enjoyed it multiple times. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/07/25 Full Review Noah K If a 12 year old who played Halo video games made a Mission Impossible movie, this would be the result. The characters are flat, the tropes are recylced from at least 10 other Tom Cruise movies, and there are more plot holes littered around the film than trash on a New York City block. What was supposed to be a modern reimagining of Groundhog Day and Saving Private Ryan became a tarnishing of their names and of all actors and directors involved. This movie felt like it was an hour too long, yet we didn't get to meet any characters in any depth. 0/10. Please do not waste your time on this piece of trash. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/05/25 Full Review Gabriel W A strong time travel action movie. You will want to watch this over and over. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Read all reviews
