I love Jimmy Stewart and Carole Lombard. This movie was a good effort, but it suffered from poor directing and dialogue. I'd rather watch My Man Godfrey or Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Oh well...lots of old movies are good, and lots of them aren't.

Stewart's practice for Wonderful Life is like a toned-down Capra domestic holiday drama. Lombard and Stewart are a lovably cute and sweet couple, full of empathy. The biggest flaw are the social trappings of the time; the gender stuff isn't bad, but the racial element is unsurprisingly shameful.
