By day, Mike (Channing Tatum) makes ends meet any way he can -- handyman jobs, detailing cars or designing furniture. But nighttime is when Mike really gets to display his many talents: He's the hot headliner in an all-male revue. Mike sees potential in a 19-year-old he dubs the Kid (Alex Pettyfer), takes the teen under his wing and instructs him in the tricks of the trade. However, Mike learns there's a downside to the stripper lifestyle when it threatens his romance with the Kid's sister.

This seemed to be too improvisational, or the cast didn't really feel comfortable with each other. There was an underlying tone to this movie that didn't feel right. Matthew mcConaughey was way too much and I don't think was right for thr role. Love Fluffy... but he wasn't utilized as much as he could have been.

Channing Tatum has crazy mad dancing skills. Without him, I'm not sure this movie would've gone as far as it did. With him, it's definitely a hit. The It's Raining Men routine reminded me of Singing in the Rain--Channing can sing too! I'd love to see a remake

Though famous for the nudity, this certainly is also became such a hit because it's a really well-done reflection on when it's time to grow up and end a cycle of early adulthood to mature into someone who's ready to start a more serious relationship and work with better long-term perspectives. No wonder Soderbergh is a lauded director - he's taken what seems material just to shock and entertain and develops it into something more complex.

Magic Mike succeeds in grounding the stripper persona with real human emotions. However, thanks to a couple of obnoxious secondary characters, this film follows its main character down a sad path that feels unnecessarily pathetic.
