Uneven performances, flat direction and an overall sense of narrative arbitrariness keep "Main Street" from being anything more than a minor footnote to the career of much-lauded playwright and Oscar-winning screenwriter Horton Foote. Go to Full Review

Main Street is an ensemble drama that functions as a display case for a range of regional drawls, from the authentic to absurd. Go to Full Review

There's something interesting here at the core of the conflict, but the story is offered so little room to breathe, coming across rushed and undercooked. Go to Full Review

This disappointingly suffers from some uninspired direction and a clutch of odd casting choices, which never work. Go to Full Review

Kay M Oct 12 Say what you will about this movie: that it was mediocre, etc. I don't care...because I liked it! Colin Firth, Amber Tamblyn, Orlando Bloom, Ellen Burstyn & many others, were all great. Each one played their part perfectly. You understood each character & where they were coming from. The plot: Wow, I kept suspecting Mr. Gus LeRoy was up to 'no good' Keep watching for the surprise ending! See more Steve D 02/03/2024 The great cast kept it engaging. See more Laurie G 10/10/2023 Was a dreadfully boring movie. Kept waiting for something to happen but it never did. So much whining!! terrible accents, again the stories just went nowhere you kept waiting for something to happen. I think there was underlining substance there for one of those stories to take off and actually go somewhere and let something actually happen but it never did! See more Lieutenant D 01/03/2023 One of the worst movies I've ever seen. The acting is not bad, but the script is terrible. I kept watching to see the beginning of the plot. There was no plot. Save your time See more 05/23/2022 Not good! I can't believe Colin and Orlando allowed themselves to be in it See more @ExcessMale 03/12/2022 Studded with Oscar-tier veteran performers and younger capable talent, this film doesn't have more appeal beyond that. By the beginning of the third act it becomes quite apparent that the story is nearly completely pedestrian. See more Read all reviews
