Steve D Fairly entertaining and a fun idea. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/07/24 Full Review Tracy J The acting from Joan Blondell & Stu Erwin is remarkably good in this film. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/09/23 Full Review kevin w Stuart Erwin is effective an orphan, an earnest man-child working in a small-town Illinois grocery shop with heavy duty dreams of making it big in Hollywood, particularly as a cowboy star. Joan Blondell, always charming, is a seasoned pro at the entertainment game in Hollywood who, despite her better judgment, takes pity on the unwitting loser and sees a way for both of them to get a little profit out of his naive earnestness. This "insider Hollywood" comedy benefits both from Erwin's performance as a rube, and a half a dozen cameos of popular celebrities of the time. What was particularly interesting was how little the allure of "making it big" has changed from the silent movie days. Kudos as well to Ben Turpin for being the butt of many of the film's jokes.
