Federico T Salvatore Samperi's sicilian tale about the inescapable actions and consequences of love and desire, which always find a way to breach, irrespective of social mannerism, religion constraints or even taboos, is much more than the erotic/sex comedy that was marketed at the time of its release. If there is a good amount of laughter at the many funny gags and lots of easy erotic/voyeur shortcuts, the predominant canon here is social  criticism and the evaluation of the purest freedom which is inherent to mankind, although society tries to harness it through its conventions. Laura Antonelli is a stunning, beautiful protagonist, the perfect embodiment of this innately perturbing maid, genuinely able to pure love but also careful to secure herself a social affirmation. By that love can degrade to a game, a lust, a dimension where it can be expressed without losing the part in which every character is formally positioned. The true revelation of the movie is the young Alessandro Momo, capable of a convincing and strong acting, with all the guts needed to pair his co-lead bombshell. Momo was destined to superstardom after another precious co-leading with legend Vittorio Gassman on the italian original Dino Risi directed feature film "Scent of a woman" in 1974, but unfortunately that same year he found death at the age of 17. Even more sadly, in 2015 we lost also Laura Antonelli, who, essentially forgotten, found death by heart failure in the years following her long term depression after she became disillusioned of fame traps and misadventures.
