Steve D Entertaining but nether stars best work. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/24 Full Review john g Powell is excellent as a con-man -- debonair-charming in control and sometimes tormented-conflicted-soulful. Lombard turns in a moving performance as the girl who loves and wants to believe in him even after he tells her he's a con-man. Wynne presents effectively as the dropped, sometimes vengeful girl-friend. Mankiewicz script and plot are sometimes tender, sometimes wrenching - with a believable, workable ending to a difficult situation. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review william k Adequately made and cast romance drama centered on its star William Powell is simply a bit slow-going and not quite exciting. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Has no big plotline but I loved William Powell and Carole Lombard together in this! Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member It's rare to find a movie that doesn't have a happy ending. Also nice to have Carole Lombard in a role that doesn't have her playing a ditzy blonde. William Powell really got into this role as a hesitant con-man. At the end he's so ashamed of what he's done he can't look anyone in the face while he talks to them. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Lombard's comic talents are wasted, as the role could have been played just as well by Norma Shearer, reprising her character from The Women. That's not, by the way, meant as a compliment. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
